# Billing and usage

The rows-left meter, what counts as a row, the monthly cap and the price curve, once-off grants, the billing portal, and what happens when a workspace runs out.

Jsonify bills on rows. Each workspace has a monthly collection cap; you pay at month end for the rows actually collected, never for the cap itself. The first 100 rows in a month are free, and there are no named plans to choose between.

## The rows-left meter

The card at the bottom of the sidebar reads **N rows left** over a thin bar showing how much of the month’s allowance has been used. It is grey and purple normally, amber once you pass 80% of the cap, and red when the cap is reached. When collapsed, the sidebar shows a gauge icon with a coloured dot in the warning states.

Click it for the **Monthly usage** dialog:

| Line | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| N rows left | Cap plus grants, minus rows collected this month. |
| Collected | Rows collected since the month began. |
| Monthly cap | Your workspace’s cap. Reads Monthly allocation on an enterprise agreement. |
| Once-off row grants | Extra rows added to this month, shown when you have any. |
| Cap reached. Collection is paused. | Shown when nothing is left. |
| Resets Mon d (UTC) | When the month’s allowance starts again. |

**Manage usage →** opens **Settings → Billing & Usage**.

## What counts as a row

A row is one record published by a live run into a dataset. The rule of thumb: you pay for rows that passed the pipeline’s checks and arrived where your team reads them.

Not counted:

*   retries, blocked pages and failed fetches,
*   test runs that verify a change before it is activated,
*   rows held back by a check instead of published,
*   repairs and the runs that resume after them (the resumed run’s published rows count once),
*   dashboards, newsletters, alerts and exports built from rows already counted.

The **Usage** view below shows exactly which pipeline collected how many rows on which day.

## The monthly cap and the price curve

The cap is the ceiling for collection in a month; it is a limit, not a purchase. Up to 100 rows is free with no card. From 101 rows the month costs at least $49, and above 5,000 rows the bill scales smoothly with volume:

Your first paid cap is limited to 50,000 rows until your first invoice clears.

## Settings → Billing & Usage

Headed **Billing & Usage — Your collection this month, and room to grow.** All figures are for UTC calendar months.

### Monthly usage

The month picker (arrows; the current month is the latest) sets the month for the whole page. The headline reads **n of total rows collected** with a progress bar, **n remaining** and **Resets Mon d, yyyy (UTC)**. Past months show the total collected.

### Monthly collection cap

| Option | Values | Default | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Maximum rows per month | whole number | 100 | The cap for this workspace. Thousands separators are added as you type. Reset restores the saved value. |
| Slider | 100 to more than 1,000,000 | 100 | The same value, with shaded bands for Free — 100 rows/month · no card and $49/mo — Up to 5,000 rows/month · billed at month end, and quick picks at 100, 1k, 10k, 100k and >1m Enterprise. |
| Maximum charge | read-only | Free | The most the month can cost at this cap: Free, $49/mo, ~$N/mo, or Let’s talk above 1,000,000. |

Setting the cap:

1.  **Enter or drag** the new value. The **Maximum charge** readout updates.
2.  **Read the confirmation box** — **Confirm change to collection cap** shows **old → new rows per month**.
3.  **Press Save collection cap.** The message **Monthly collection cap updated. Nothing charged.** confirms it. Every change is recorded under **History** as a **Cap change**.

Lowering the cap below what has already been collected pauses further collection for the month; it never erases usage.

> Raising the cap above 100 rows requires billing to be enabled for the workspace. The tab shows an amber **Billing required** box with an **Enable billing** button. Self-serve billing setup is coming soon and the button is not yet active; until then, contact support@jsonify.com to raise a cap above the free 100 rows.

Workspaces on an enterprise agreement see **Monthly row allocation — n rows per month** and **Contact support to change** instead of the slider.

### Usage

A **Rows collected** bar chart, one bar per day of the month. Hover a bar for **Mon d · n rows**; click it for the day’s breakdown by pipeline (25 per page). **By pipeline** lists the month’s top pipelines with proportional bars and links. When you have once-off grants, **Details** lists each under **Once-off row grants** with its reason and expiry, and shows **Next month’s cap: n rows.** Before anything has been collected the view reads **No rows collected this month — Usage appears here after a completed collection.**

### Billing

**Estimated bill so far** for the current month, based on rows collected so far; the final figure is calculated at month end. Under it, a breakdown of **Rows collected**, **Covered by once-off row grants** and **Rows counted for pricing**, and **How pricing works**: your cap limits collection; it is not a purchase, and the bill depends on actual collection, not unused capacity.

**Payments** links to **Manage your payment method and invoices securely** via **Manage payments and invoices**, which opens the billing portal where you can change the card, download invoices and see past charges.

> Where payments are not yet set up for a workspace, the tab reads **Add a payment method to enable billing.** with an **Add card** button that is not yet active. Self-serve card setup is coming soon; the free 100 rows work without one.

Enterprise workspaces read **Invoices and payment — Managed directly by your account team.**

### History

Every event that changed the workspace’s rows, for the chosen month:

| Filter | Values |
| --- | --- |
| Event type | All events, Collection, Once-off row grants, Cap changes, Monthly resets |
| Pipeline | All pipelines, or any pipeline that has collected rows |
| More filters | From and To dates within the month, Minimum rows and Maximum rows |

Columns are **Date**, **Event**, **Details** and **Rows** (sortable by date and rows). A **Collection** row links to the run; a **Once-off row grant** row shows its note and expiry; **Cap change** and **Monthly reset** rows show **—** for rows. 25 per page.

## Once-off row grants

A grant adds rows to the current month on top of the cap. Grants are free, do not renew, and unused grant rows expire when the month resets. They are added by the Jsonify team, for example when you take part in a launch promotion or during a support case; contact support@jsonify.com if you need one. Grants show in the **Monthly usage** dialog, under **Usage → Details**, and as **Once-off row grant** events in **History**.

## Out of rows

When nothing is left, a red banner appears above every page in the workspace: **This workspace is out of rows. Pipelines are paused until Mon d, when your monthly allowance resets.** with **View usage**.

While the banner shows:

*   scheduled live runs do not start,
*   **Run Pipeline** on a pipeline page opens a dialog explaining the workspace is out of rows instead of running,
*   **Run** on the pipelines list replies **Out of rows — top up to keep running**,
*   runs triggered by webhook are not started.

Everything else keeps working: datasets, dashboards, newsletters, share links, exports, alerts on existing data, and chats with Jason. Test runs that verify a pipeline change are not affected. Collection resumes on its own when the month resets, or as soon as the cap is raised or a grant is added.
